How Referrals Work in a PPO.CSHP’s PPO is a voluntary program that allows patients the freedom to choose their own physicians, without needing a referral. Keep in mind that your benefits could be affected if you choose to use non-network providers. Sometimes there is a medical need to be treated by a specialist who is not a CSHP panel provider. In these cases, approval must occur from CSHP and your Health Plan, so that your medical expenses will be covered at the maximum level of benefits possible. It is the responsibility of the enrollee to verify that a health care provider participates in the CSHP Network. Even if your physician refers you to another provider, it is your responsibility to verify that the practitioner or facility is part of the network. |
